Meet Tracy

Tracy Liberatore founded Med Legal Pro in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 2016. The firm sources, vets and prepares medical experts for attorneys on every side of litigation: plaintiff, defense, insurance and criminal. Tracy does not review the cases herself. She matches the right clinician to the matter, screens for conflicts, trains experts in how attorneys read a report, and quality checks the work before it goes out.

She built that role from both sides of the table. Ten years of clinical practice taught her how medicine is documented. Law school taught her how that documentation gets taken apart. Med Legal Pro and the National Expert Academy exist to close the distance between the two.

From the exam room to the case file

The short version of how a clinician ended up building a litigation support firm.

Trained in the exam room

Tracy graduated in the top ten percent of Marywood University’s physician assistant program and practiced in ENT and head and neck surgery, hematology and oncology, psychiatry and urgent care.

Watching the system fail patients

She saw prior authorizations denied and a hospital block a cancer drug on cost. Clinical judgment kept losing to decisions made on paper, by people who never met the patient.

Learning a second language

So she went to law school. It took a full year before legal reasoning clicked, because clinical training rewards keeping options open and legal writing punishes it. She graduated valedictorian in 2016, with the Jack R. Goetz and Legal Services awards.

The turning point

She saw the same problem from the other side. Strong clinicians were writing reports that fell apart under cross examination, and nobody ever told them why.

Building Med Legal Pro

In 2016 she started matching attorneys with medical experts and preparing those experts for litigation. For nine years the firm grew on referrals alone.

A decade of attorney feedback

Every complaint an attorney had about an expert report came to her desk. Those complaints became the C.L.E.A.R. Method™, the report framework every Med Legal Pro expert is trained on.

Teaching it at scale

Clinicians outside the firm started asking for the same training, so she founded the National Expert Academy. She also built ConflictPro, a conflict check system for expert witnesses, so conflicts get caught before a case is taken.

Where it stands now

Tracy wrote From Medicine to Law, hosts the Statutes & Stethoscopes podcast, and speaks to attorneys, nurses and expert witnesses about what makes medical testimony hold up.

What Tracy believes

  • A maybe on paper is a maybe in your own name. “Possibly” and “could have” read as doubt to opposing counsel.
  • Silence is the signal. Attorneys rarely complain about a weak expert. They just stop calling.
  • Being right is not enough. The opinion has to connect the breach to the harm.
  • Fluency in both medicine and law is the business. Most people only speak one.
  • Every case deserves an expert who has been checked for conflicts before the first page is written.
  • Fix the system, not the person. When something slips through, build the check that catches it next time.

“A great clinician will make a great expert witness.”

Clinical excellence is where it starts, not where it ends. Medicine is written conclusion first. Law wants the reasoning that earns the conclusion. A brilliant physician or nurse who writes a report the way they chart will hand opposing counsel the questions for the deposition. The good news is that this is a training gap, not a talent gap, and training gaps can be closed.
